Anthony Sartor, PE, PhD
Executive Chairman
Dr. Anthony Sartor served as the Chairman Emeritus of PS&S. He was one of two principals with overall responsibility for management of the firm, with special emphasis on client development, and was the prime mover in the firm’s growth from 20 people in 1974 to 300 people in 2000. Dr. Sartor was one of the pioneers in the environmental engineering field, initially getting involved in environmental engineering in the early 1970’s.
From 2003 to April 2009, Dr. Sartor served as a Senior Vice President of National Grid (formerly KeySpan) and also as President and Chief Operating Officer of National Grid Energy Services (NGES) formerly KeySpan Services, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of National Grid. NGES consisted of the unregulated businesses of National Grid.
Prior to his position in NGES, Dr. Sartor had served as President of KeySpan Business Solutions, LLC (KBS) from 2000-2003, a wholly-owned subsidiary of then KeySpan Services, with responsibility for life-cycle projects, construction management, project management, mechanical contracting services, engineering services and facilities management.
Dr. Sartor was appointed by Governor Whitman of New Jersey as a Commissioner of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in March 1999 and reappointed in December of 2001 by Governor DiFrancesco of New Jersey to a six-year term. He was reappointed in December 2007 by Governor Corzine of New Jersey for a six year term and he retired in 2014. He served as a member of the Operations Committee, the Committee on Governance and Ethics and chaired the WTC Redevelopment Subcommittee, charged with responsibility of rebuilding the World Trade Center site.
Prior to his appointment as a Commissioner of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Dr. Sartor was appointed by Governor Florio of NJ as a Commissioner on The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA), the public agency responsible for operating the Meadowlands Sports Complex, Monmouth Race Track and the Atlantic City Convention Center and served from 1992 to 1999.
Dr. Sartor served on the Board of Trustees of Manhattan College, and sat on the Board of Trustees for John Cabot University, Rome, Italy. Also, he sat on the Board of Turtle & Hughes and electrical distribution company and Root 9B, a cybersecurity company.
Dr. Sartor received his Ph.D. and M.S.E. from the University of Michigan in Chemical Engineering and his B.Ch.E. from Manhattan College. He was listed in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in Technology, American Men and Women of Science, as well as many other national and international organizations. He was a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of New Jersey and New York and was a licensed Professional Planner in the State of New Jersey.
