*Project featured was performed by B. Thayer Associates and its professionals prior to joining PS&S.
PS&S professionals are working with the New York City Department of Transportation and the New York City Department of Design and Construction to upgrade sidewalk conditions for pedestrian safety for this one and one-half mile, 25-block stretch of Atlantic Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn. The unique challenge of this project is the presence of a Long Island Railroad tunnel below the roadway medians. It was critical that the design was well coordinated across agencies and disciplines. The proposed design for this project includes streetscape enhancements such as curb extensions, expanded sidewalks, bus stop improvements, new pedestrian refuge islands, crosswalk medians, and a raised planted median, in coordination with the Long Island Railroad NYCDOT, NYCDDC, and New York City Department of Parks.
Work included:
- Gathering utility plans in the areas of construction and coordinating correspondences between the utility providers and the design team
