THE OPPORTUNITY

Jefferson Health wanted to expand the capabilities of its Sterile Processing Department. The expansion also included modernizing the facility by replacing equipment, improving throughput and flow, accommodate a more significant workload, and adopt a case cart system.

THE CHALLENGE

The challenge for this project was ensuring each space: Decontamination, Washing / Disinfection, and Prep & Pack, and Sterilization were fully functional during the construction phases.

THE PS&S SOLUTION

The new Central Sterile Processing Department performs as a twin-compartment. Gross Decontamination process, Washing / Disinfection, and Prep & Pack occur separately from the Sterilization area & Sterile Cart Storage compartment. The project doubles the former Department area and increases the processing volumes.
