LEED Educational Experience
PS&S is very committed to Green Building Design / Sustainable Design. We have organized and orchestrated Green Building/LEED Training Workshops for our design/engineering staff and have 20 senior staff who are LEED Certified. PS&S and its subsidiaries are involved in many projects currently certified or registered and pursuing LEED Certification, as indicated in the projects below:
Ramapo College Student Housing – Mahwah, NJ:
100,000 sf of space, 295 beds on eight floors located in an environmentally sensitive site. Sustainable design centered on wetlands, steeply sloped wooded site that incorporated environmentally-driven wetlands, stormwater management, orientation and daylighting. (Sustainable Design)
First Avenue District School – Newark, NJ:
165,000 sf new educational and shared community amenity space incorporating geothermal heating and cooling and ice storage. (Sustainable Design & 2008 ACEC National Award for Energy Conserving Design)
Montclair State University – Montclair, NJ:
2000 bed student housing and 600 seat dining facility which optimized orientation to minimize energy costs. Used insulated precast panels to provide a high performance, commissioned exterior skin. (LEED Certified)
SUNY Albany – Albany, NY:
500 bed residence hall providing a reduction of water use by over 40%, a high performance exterior commissioned wall, geothermal heating and cooling connected to an existing lake, a white reflective and green roof to reduce heat and retain storm water while reaching LEED Gold Certification
A. Chester Redshaw Elementary School – New Brunswick, NJ:
A new 135,000 sf Prek-5 sustainable urban elementary school. (Currently seeking LEED Silver Certification).
Gilmore Elementary School – Union City, NJ:
125,000 sf of elementary school. (Sustainable Design)
East Side High School – Newark, NJ:
250,000 sf Academy-based high school providing adaptive reuse of existing structural frame and integrating a green roof for water retention and acoustics from the overhead flight landing path of Newark Liberty Airport. (Sustainable Design)
Hart Middle School – East Orange, NJ:
152,000 sf feasibility study for a District School Campus to include an early childhood center, middle school, school board offices and playfields. (Sustainable Design)
