PS&S offers a customized vegetative maintenance web mapping solution in support of JCP&L’s multi-year maintenance of their transmission system’s right-of-ways.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The system was created specifically for JCP&L to allow for reliable scheduling and management of their vegetative maintenance along the transmission right-of-way system, located state-wide. The system allows data management across the organization with customized logins and modules for managers, arborists, tree contractors, and external stakeholders. The site eliminates paper across vegetation activities, keeping information centralized and updated while enabling current data distribution, analysis and reporting to managers, contractors, and government agencies.
THE CHALLENGE
In order to adequately maintain their right-of-way systems, JCP&L needed to adhere to guidelines and strict regulations from multiple utility and state and federal entities. Data and regulations often come in various formats. The challenge is to bring all of the data types and restrictions into a centralized dataset that encompasses the entire system and creates a schedule and a maintenance method inventory so that our client remains compliant to across all agencies.
THE PS&S SOLUTION
PS&S developed a field maintenance method and window schedule that considers all restrictions for sensitive species habitat that exist along the right-of-way. This information is centrally stored and distributed through the powerful web mapping site hosted by PS&S.
